Read this if you need practice motivation

Hey there Reader,

No matter who we are, we all need that motivational push for practicing. Here are 4 things that I think will help you find more motivation:

1. The Standing Ovation Series

I started doing this series about a year ago to help you feel more excited to practice through encouragement.

Every day for 3 days, you get an email from me celebrating your practice for the day and encouraging you for the next day’s sessions.

Here’s what musicians have to say about it:

Ready for some exciting encouragement?

2. Practice With Me in Real Time

When it comes to accountability and focus, knowing someone else is there practicing as well can be so helpful. I want this focus for you. You can practice with me in real time as I work on music for music conservatoire, and we can keep each other accountable!

You get access to this as a member of The Confident Musicianing Membership Community.

3. My Conversation with Maestro Jacob Joyce

This conversation was the first interview I ever did on the Confident Musicianing Podcast. Maestro Jacob Joyce is the Associate Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, and he brought so much knowledge and wisdom to this episode.

(Seriously, I listen to it often for motivation because he is so inspiring.)

In the episode, we dive into:

  • The power of networking 💪
  • Making a change in your music career (Maestro went from violin to conducting!) 🎻
  • Managing studying both music and another degree at the same time (economics and music at Yale!) 📚
  • The top things that young musicians can focus on in their career. 🎶
  • How Maestro Joyce prepares for important auditions. 🏆
  • And much more!

4. A Practice Journal for Organisation

I used to plan my practice when I was auditioning for music school… and then I stopped after. I recently started planning my practice again with Notabl_’s practice journals, and it has transformed my practice.

Not only do I know exactly what I am going to work on, I also know when it is time to stop practicing for the day. And at the end of my practice there is a reflection section so that everyday can be an improvement.

As soon as I knew this is working, I had to let you know and get you a code. Use code ELEANOR15 for 15% off your order!*

Let me know which one is your favourite. Just respond to this email (and I'll reply!)

All my best,

Eleanor

Hey there Reader, I thought I had an oboe lesson today, but it got cancelled. Because in Scotland, we are in storm Éowyn right now. As I am writing this, streets are deserted, and the wind is so strong that birds are being blown about in the sky. It's very loud outside, but inside, I'm having a cozy day. Tea is always necessary for cozy days This past week has been the hardest week so far at the conservatoire. I have been busy, and honestly a tad overwhelmed, with all of the projects that I...

Hello Reader, I had planned to practice all through Christmas break this past year. Especially with exams and auditions coming up. Then my teacher said I should take that whole week off. What...? One part of me was really nervous... there was so much to practice! But another part of me was super excited about that break. So I listened to my teacher and put my oboe away for the whole week. I did a lot of wandering and looking at pretty views Have you ever done this? Let me know how it went......

From a recent class (that I really enjoy) Hey there Reader, There's always that one class... that is just 'meh.' We're just not into it. I get it. I had a class at high school that I didn't like at all. But I wanted to do well, and I wanted to enjoy it. Also for other classes too. Here are the 3 things I did to go from struggling to genuinely liking that 'meh' class. Tell me, Eleanor! All my best, Eleanor Unsubscribe · Preferences
